Wishing you peace, joy, and love...
this Chrismas season!! Christmas is wonderful time for enjoying our loved ones both near and far, and the
opportunity to focus on the most important gift of all...Our Saviour, Jesus Christ!!
Since I did not have the opportunity this year to send out my typical Christmas newsletter, I thought this would be a neat way to share with you all some bits & pieces, funnies, and pictures of course, from our 2007 year.
I'll start out with some of my favorites, which are funnies that we've heard around our house this year.
- Cayden loves the movie, Robots, and is often overheard quoting lines from the movie, like a good Boonstra man!! You gotta love it when you hear your 5 year old boy singing "hit me baby one more time", a Britney Spears song that is apparently in the movie. Scary!
- Cayden saying to me "Your daughter is in the bathroom again". Apparently Eric & I refer to Kamryn as "your daughter" when we want the other person to go get her out of trouble...again.
- One day Addyson was inquiring about girls and boys private parts, so I had to have a little chat with her about it. I told her when she gets older that her chest will get bigger. Later that day she excitedly says to me "Mommy look!! My boobies are getting bigger and bigger everyday!"
- Addyson is infatuated with her boogers, and yes, embarrassing enough, I am telling you all this. One day she was talking about her boogers again, and said "I usually just play with my yucky boogers for awhile. Hey...it lights up in the dark!" I cannot stand when my kids have boogers or crusties around their noses, so I am known for picking at their noses. One day I was getting some crusties out of Addyson's nose and she says "Mommy, I already picked all of my boogers out of my nose in my bedroom" to which I then asked her what she did with them. "well, I ate them all up in my tummy!" I sure hope that she grows out of this someday. The funny thing is that this totally grosses Cayden out!
- Kamryn gets so mad if one of her siblings is taking a bath without her, and tries to put her leg over the tub to get in. One day she was so mad that she decided to take matters in her own hands and literally slid headfirst, clothes on, into the full tub while Addyson was in it. I thought for sure she was hurt, and after we realized she was ok the kids and I just roared with laugher!!
- One day Grandma Dykstra was over and decided to go into the bathroom to do what you do in the bathroom. :) Kamryn kept yelling at the top of her lungs from the other room over & over "bubba, bubba".
- Addyson saying all the time "I've got a wedgie". Nice.
- Addyson giving a thumbs up and saying "we're groovy".
- Is a 3 year old supposed to say "Salutations!" while playing with her dolls??
- As Cayden has gotten older he has become quite active. Sometimes we joke that we're going to superglue his bottom to his chair at suppertime b/c he never, ever sits down on it. He eats supper in about 4 minutes tops and then is back to jumping on each and every piece of furniture that we own. Even after playing outside in the snow for 2 hours straight he is right back into running around the house at top speed. He also climbs on everything, and sometimes we're not exactly sure how he was able to get to where he climbed. One day he was playing in the garage and I came to check on him. I heard a "hi Mom", looked up, and there he was perched up on the roof of our Durango.
- Cayden is a typical farting, burping, bodily functions are funny, boy. I swear we live in a barnyard some days!! And Addyson isn't much better than her brother!
- In typical girl fashion, Addyson is quite a little tattletale. We got in the car to go somewhere and 5 minutes down the road Addyson says "Uh, Mommy...Cayden didn't flush the potty".
- As many toys as we have accumulated with 3 kids over the years, interestingly enough, Kamryn rarely plays with any of them. She is much more interested in things like the toilet brush, splashing in the potty, throwing items into the potty, throwing things out of every drawer that she can open, spilling Sadie's water bowl, stealing the kids sippies, and much, much more. She is such a little stinker!! My Mom laughs when I tell her the stories...she's happy that I've finally gotten a child that's just like me!!!
- In the short span of 15 minutes one morning Kamryn managed to put lotion in Sadie's water bowl, took a chocolate cupcake wrapper out of the kitchen trash, got the chocolate from the wrapper all over her hands, face, and the living room chair, and got black crayon all over her face and the forementioned chair. All I was trying to do that morning was dry my hair. :)
- Kamryn feels the intense need whenever we are out to run away from us. She also must walk up to every person that she sees and stare them down until they acknowledge her being there, smile real big, and say "hi!!". She will not leave one alone until they do acknowledge that yes, you are cute!! And please don't try to hold her hand either, this will result in her waving her arms around to prevent you from doing so. And if you do manage to grab a flailing hand she will wriggle herself to the ground in anger. Basically a lose, lose situation for the parent! Good thing she's so darn cute!
- We were singing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" one day and Cayden says "Wow, God must have the biggest hands ever to hold the whole world in His hands". He was truly amazed.
- I was playing babies with Addyson one day and asked her what her babies names are. She replied "Sam & Squawkily".
- Cayden was frustrated with something one day and exclaims "I've had it!".
- My all time favorite...at the zoo with friends this summer we were watching the gorillas and Cayden exclaimed for everyone to hear "Holy cow, that's the biggest butt I've ever seen!"
- At the Cutlerville days fair Addyson saw a motorcycle guy in full gear and said loudly "look at that pirate!"
- While doing some grocery shopping with Cayden at Meijer, Cayden apparently noticed an older man who was a midget. Cayden then commented to me real sweetly "awwww...look at that little guy over there, he's so cute, I've never seen such a short Daddy before" I tried desperately to change the subject but Cayden was in awe of this man who was so little.
- At pizza hut this summer with my mom & dad Cayden all of a sudden announced calmly "I'm peeing in my pants right now" and sure enough, there was a trickle of pee coming out of his pants leg down onto the floor beneath the table. What!!! Daddy took him to the bathroom to change clothes and when he came back that is all Cayden could talk about. He kept laughing and going on and on about the puddle of pee on the floor...I'm sure that it didn't help that all of us were rolling in laughter. I'm sure the waiter was very glad to see us go that day!
- Kamryn has followed the climbing path of her brother. She climbs up on everything and then proceeds to stand up that item. But she has to make sure that we are looking at her, and then she shakes her head no and says " uh uh". I'm pretty sure that in her world no means do it again & again.
- To date the kids have taught Kamryn to say "poopoo". This gets laughter from them everytime she says it!
- Addyson must rub the back of Kamryn's hair every single time she sees Kamryn. She will in fact take off her hat or headband when we're out just so she can rub her head. She seems to love Kamryn a little bit too much according to Kamryn. One day Addyson just kept rubbing Kam's head and not letting her have her own space. Kamryn responded with a nice big bite to Addysons arm. Later we asked Addyson why Kamryn bit her and she said " b/c I was smothering her". Righto!!
- Kamryn loves to blow her nose...regardless of whether it's into a kleenex or just all over her face. Yummy.
Cayden
Our boy is now 5 years old. He attends Kindergarten at Legacy
Christian school and absolutely loves each and every day! We are so proud of everything he is learning there, and gets off the bus with a smile everyday. He has a best buddy at school named Jacob and plays with him whenever he gets a chance. Cayden is full of energy and is growing into such a sweet little boy. He loves wrestling with Daddy, teasing his sister, loving up his baby sister, playing outside in any kind of weather, and reading. He loves to play tricks on his family members...we often hear him say something silly and then he says "just kidding"..."haaahaaahaaa".
Addyson
Little miss Addyson is now 3 1/2 years old but somedays talks as if she is 16. She amazes us each and every day with the things that come out of her mouth...sometimes was have to remind ourselves that she is only 3. She is a girlie girl yet loves to get dirty and roughouse with her brother & Daddy! She is so full of hugs and kisses, and loves to draw. She loves to pretend all the time, and is constantly dreaming up things in that little head of hers! And she absolutely LOVES babies!!! She is in a dance class this year with her friend Ellie and loves it so much. When we get home she wants to wear her ballerina clothes all day! She is such a little sweetie.

Kamryn Our baby is now 15 months old and hardly a baby anymore! She is quite a little charmer and always has a smile on that chubby little face. She absolutely adores her big brother and sister, and loves to give them kisses, "maa" she says as she kisses their cheeks. But don't let that sweet little smile fool you b/c she is quite a stinker. She keeps Mommy & Daddy very, very busy. She loves playing with her baby dolls and climbing on just about anything. She definitely completes our family.I continue to keep myself busy as a stay at home Mom, running kids around town, and enjoying my ever growing photography business, Creative Expressions Photography. I abolutely love taking pictures of families, and am now getting into the design aspect of it too, designing cards & collages for people. This is my absolute favorite part!! Check out my newest website...CreativeEx.blogspot.com(click on the link on the right side) for some fun updates on work that I've done!
Eric continues to work for Ernst & Young and will celebrate 10 years there this January!! He is constantly being challenged in his work and truly enjoys the people that he works with. He is enjoying some time off during the holidays before he goes into his busy season. He also enjoys playing on a work basketball league every Tuesday and playing with his kids!! He is a wonderful & FUN Dad!!
Some highlights in our year include: a trip to Florida with G&G Boonstra, camping together in a popup in the rain, celebrating Cayden's 5th birthday with friends & family, a trip Up North with my whole family, Kamryn turning 1 year old, and many trips to the beach this summer!!
We are truly grateful to our God for a happy, healthy family. We hope that you all have a joyous & blessed Christmas season!
Love
The Boonstra Family
Eric, Kelly, Cayden, Addyson, & Kamryn
